When You Don't Know What's Next
There's a particular kind of tired that comes from pain you can't explain to people who haven't lived it. You smile in meetings. You answer "I'm fine" on autopilot. And underneath, something in you is still bleeding.
If that's you right now, here's the first thing worth hearing: you don't have to perform okay-ness for God. The Psalms are full of people who showed up raw — angry, confused, wrecked — and were never once told to clean it up first. "Why, Lord, do you stand far off?" the psalmist asks in Psalm 10. That's not a lack of faith. That's faith honest enough to ask the question.
Healing rarely arrives the way we picture it — a single breakthrough moment, a clear sky after the storm. More often it's quieter than that. It's the next hour. The next decision to stay instead of shut down. The next small mercy you let yourself receive, even when you don't feel like you deserve it.
You don't need to understand your whole story today. You just need one true thing to hold onto: God isn't waiting somewhere down the road for you to feel better before He shows up. He's here, in the hurting part, right now.
A next step: Instead of asking "why is this happening," try asking "where is God in this." It's a smaller question. It's also the one that tends to get answered first.
